Ottawa Run for Palestine returns in support of children in Gaza this September

The 11th Annual Ottawa Run for Palestine is set to return to Hogs Back Park on Saturday, September 12, 2026, bringing together community members for a day of walking, running, fundraising, and solidarity. Organized by Run for Palestine Ottawa, this year’s event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Hogs Back Park, located at 600 Hogs Back Rd. Participants will have the option to walk or run distances of 2K, 5K, or 10K, making the event accessible to people of different ages and fitness levels. The annual event is also a fundraising initiative, with this year's proceeds being raised in partnership with Islamic Relief Canada to support children in Gaza who have been orphaned and are facing difficult humanitarian circumstances. ## Supporting Children in Gaza Funds raised through the event will help provide essential support including shelter, clothing, education, and other basic needs. Organizers have also highlighted the importance of supporting children with disabilities and those requiring urgent medical assistance.

The event comes as Ottawa's Muslim community continues to organize fundraising and community initiatives aimed at supporting humanitarian relief efforts. Organizers are encouraging individuals, families, and community groups to participate, donate, and help spread awareness of the fundraiser. Last year's Ottawa Run for Palestine saw the local community raise more than $100,000 for Gaza, according to event organizers. This year, organizers are hoping participants and supporters will come together once again to build on that contribution and make an even greater impact. Beyond the fundraising goal, the event provides an opportunity for community members to come together outdoors and participate in a shared activity while supporting a humanitarian cause. Participants can register individually or encourage family members, friends, and colleagues to join them. ## How to Participate Organizers are encouraging Ottawa residents to register, donate, invite family and friends, and help spread the word ahead of the September event.
