About
Richmond Islamic Community Ottawa (RICO) serves as a central hub for Muslims in Ottawa's southwest, specifically in the Richmond Village area. Established in Ramadan 2023, it aims to foster a healthy and thriving Muslim community integrated within Canadian society. The community draws its wisdom and guidance from the Qur'an and Sunnah, with a mission to nurture spiritual and educational development.
RICO provides a range of services including daily prayer services, Islamic education, and community events. For prayers, it offers Isha prayers during winter, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha during summer, along with regular Friday Jumu'ah prayers. Educational initiatives include Quran classes for children and adults, and Arabic language courses.
Beyond religious services and education, the community also organizes various events for Muslims and the wider community to build bonds and spread Islamic knowledge, such as Islamic festival services for Eid and Ramadan. RICO collaborates with organizations like the National Zakat Foundation Canada to offer Zakat services and also provides counseling services to support its members.
