SNMC
Overview
The South Nepean Muslim Community or SNMC was established in 2006 by local Muslims in Barrhaven to serve the growing Muslim population in the area.
SNMC offers a spacious and accessible facility for worship and community activities and accommodates approximately 1,500 worshippers with separate prayer halls for men and women, including overflow spaces.
It features classrooms for Islamic education, a library, and multi-purpose halls for community events. The Centre hosts daily prayers, Friday Jummah, Taraweeh during Ramadan, and Eid prayers.
SNMC provides a wide range of services, including Quranic and Islamic studies, youth programs, senior support, and counseling.
The facility is wheelchair accessible, with free on-site parking and public transit access. Security cameras and personnel ensure safety during major gatherings.
Active in community outreach, SNMC organizes interfaith events, charity drives, and environmental initiatives. The Centre is funded by community donations and offers official tax receipts.
