Siraj Institute
Overview
Siraj Institute is a non-profit organization in Ottawa dedicated to providing high-quality Islamic education and mentorship to young Muslim women and men, empowering them to become leaders in both their communities and beyond.
The institute offers a broad range of programs including Arabic language instruction, Quran memorization, and a Diploma in Islamic Leadership. These programs are designed to combine classical Islamic scholarship with real-world skills, fostering character, critical thinking, and spiritual growth.
Mentorship is at the core of Siraj’s approach: students are supported one-on-one and in small groups, ensuring guidance, accountability, and growth. The institute also emphasizes experiential learning and community service, helping students apply what they learn through projects, leadership training, and service opportunities.
Siraj Institute offers accessible education pathways. The Quran memorization program is offered free of charge, while other academic tracks provide scholarships, merit-based and need-based financial aid to lower the barrier for those wanting to enroll.
As part of its mission, Siraj also delivers services for community capacity building, training educators, developing curricula, and offering support in areas such as Sharia compliance and professional growth for community leaders.
